We run a small grocery shop and we’ve been using random cardboard boxes for years to store stock and it’s chaotic, nothing stacks properly and things get crushed. A supplier mentioned that proper crates would make life easier and honestly I think he’s right. I’ve been looking at a milk crate option since the size seems about right for what we need, bottles and small packets mainly. The thing I’m unsure about is whether these are strong enough to stack four or five high when full, and whether they hold up outdoors since some of our storage is in the back yard which gets direct sun. If anyone’s used crates for retail storage, I’d love to know if they last in this heat or if the plastic gets brittle after a summer or two. Also do they stack neatly or is it one of those things that sounds good in theory and is annoying in practice?
